Passion for Learning & Early Interest in the Occult

A voracious reader from the age of nine, Rama developed a lifelong habit of studying newspapers and books across a wide array of topics. Her curiosity led her to explore Western astrology and numerology during her teenage years, but it was Indian Vedic astrology that eventually became her calling.

In 1991, her sister and spiritual guide, Smt. Usha N., gifted her a set of Tarot cards—an act that sparked a deeper interest in the occult. She later attended a one-day Tarot workshop by Shri K.B. Gopalakrishnan, who encouraged her to join his One-Month Foundation Course in Vedic Astrology. Her eldest sister and role model of the family, Smt. Uma S. gifted her the first set of Astrology books to read after the one-month course.

The Astrological Journey

Under the mentorship of Shri K.B. Gopalakrishnan, Rama began her formal training in Vedic astrology. Her mother’s faith in astrology, especially in the power of remedies (Upaaya), further inspired her to pursue the subject seriously. With intense discipline, she mastered the fundamentals and went on to study advanced techniques, staying up late at night to read and practice. She extensively studied works by luminaries such as Shri B.V. Raman and Shri K.N. Rao, among others.
